The Health Bureau (SSM) announced in a statement yesterday that e-cigarette disposal boxes will be available at 13 locations throughout Macau from today until June 30 next year, aiming to   “facilitate the proper disposal of e-cigarettes”.

The bureau reminded members of the public that starting on July 1, 2027, anyone (including residents and tourists) using or possessing e-cigarettes outside their residence may be subject to a fine of 1,500 patacas. Moreover, from January 1, the fine for carrying e-cigarettes into or out of the city will increase from the 4,000 patacas to 10,000 patacas.

The statement noted that the 13 locations include the Health Centres in Tap Siac, Fai Chi Kei, Areia Preta, Ilha Verde, Praia do Manduco, R. de Constantino Brito, Ocean Gardens, Nossa Senhora do Carmo – Lago, and Seac Pai Van. Other than the centres, the remaining locations comprise the health stations in Zone A (新城A區) and Coloane, as well as the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre, and the Tobacco and Alcohol Prevention and Control Office (GPCTA).
