Educator-cum-unionist Lam Lon Wai and unionist Lei Chan U were elected yesterday to represent the labour sector in the upcoming indirect legislative election on September 17.

The Federation of Macau Trade Unions (commonly known as Gung Luen), gathering sub-unions and “friendly groups”, organised an internal election yesterday at its headquarters in Patane, which elected the two candidates.

Workers’ Children High School Vice Principal Lam Long Wai, also a vice president of Gung Luen, finished first in the secret ballot with 84 votes, while Lei Chan U, who heads Gung Luen’s Policy Research and Information Division, came in second with 83 votes.
