A raft of initiatives for staff members is being hosted for integrated resort operator Sands China’s Occupational Safety and Health Month 2026 (OSH Month), which started on October 20 and lasts through November 19.
Marking its ninth year and held across the back-of-house areas of Sands China’s properties, the event’s kick-off ceremony and a roadshow were held at The Venetian Macao on October 23.
The kick-off also saw the launch of the new “Health Ambassadors” programme, where representatives will “share health information and promote related activities within their [respective] departments, encourage colleagues to participate, and gather feedback and data on the effectiveness of the activities to help Sands China continuously enhance its health initiatives”, according to a statement from the company yesterday, with the integrated resort operator providing professional training to ambassadors.
The programme’s first cohort was also formally appointed at the opening, during which the venue featured multiple booths with OSH themes.
This year’s OSH Month focuses on the themes “Healthy Index”, “OSH Awareness”, “Healthy Eating”, “Exercise”, and “Inner Wellness”.
Roadshows, promotional activities, alongside workshops and seminars including “Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Culture” and “Foot Health and Understanding Lower Limb Strain”, are among the activities being held, along with health support services such as influenza vaccinations and chronic disease screenings.
During the event’s launch ceremony, Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) Deputy Director Chan Chon U was quoted by the statement as saying: “We are pleased to see Sands China continuing to raise team members’ awareness through diverse, systematic measures, and putting safety and health concepts into practice in its daily operations. The Labour Affairs Bureau will continue working with all sectors of society on OSH education and prevention efforts, encouraging companies to fulfil their responsibilities, and helping to create safer and healthier workplaces.”
Sands China Human Resources Senior Vice President Paulo Cheong (張國軍) highlighted the company’s longstanding commitment to ensuring a safe, healthy, and caring workplace. He was also quoted by the statement as saying that the company hopes the new Health Ambassadors programme “will help further promote the concept of health management, integrating the culture of care more effectively into the daily operations of each department, and practically respond to the needs of team members”.
Cheong added: “Together with our more than 28,000 team members, we will build a safer, healthier and more connected workplace, enhance well-being and inject long-term momentum into the company’s sustainable development.”
