The implementation of the government’s basic academic attainment guidelines in F1 and F4 will be a “new” thing for teachers, especially those who did not take part in the pilot projects held by the government about the guidelines, Hou Kong Middle School Vice-Principal Chan Hong said yesterday, adding that teachers needed time to adapt to the changes.

Meanwhile, Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) Vice Director Kuok Sio Lai said the government had well prepared the implementation of the guidelines by holding sessions for those who took part in the pilot programme to pass on their experiences to those who did not.

Chan and Kuok made the remarks separately on the sidelines of a session about STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education at Santa Rosa de Lima English Secondary School.
