Grassroots New Macau Association (NMA) President Scott Chiang Meng Hin was refused entry into Hong Kong yesterday, according to Chiang’s Facebook page.

Chiang posted photos and videos on his Facebook timeline yesterday afternoon about the refusal. In one of the videos Chiang posted after he returned to Macau at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, the activist said he had made a doctor’s appointment at a clinic in Hong Kong, adding he had consulted the doctor for “some time”.

Chiang said he was stopped at the immigration checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal and interviewed by an officer. According to Chiang, the officer asked what he was going to do in Hong Kong and how much cash he had on him. Chiang also said he had shown the officer documents related to his doctor’s appointment.
