The Macau government yesterday strongly rejected the Trafficking in Persons Report 2017 released by the US State Department in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, describing the report’s claims concerning Macau as “unfounded”, “untrue” and utterly “unjust”.
According to a statement by the Secretariat for Security, the US report “ignores the objective facts of the situation in Macau.” The statement also accused the US State Department of a “wrong interpretation” of the facts in Macau, resulting in “false conclusions” and “unfounded allegations”.
The statement expressed “strong indignation” about the report.
The statement reaffirmed the government’s position that it does not tolerate human trafficking or any other kinds of exploration.
