A mainland man and woman were nabbed on Tuesday for cheating a local retiree out of 740,000 yuan (about 880,000 patacas) and HK$388,000 (about 400,000 patacas), a Judiciary Police spokesperson said yesterday.
According to the spokesperson, the victim, surnamed Hon, is 79 years old. The two suspects are a former couple. The male suspect surnamed Wu is aged 51. The female suspect, Wu’s ex-wife, is surnamed Yang, aged 42.
The spokesperson said the two suspects are unemployed, adding that Hon and Wu are from the same area in the mainland and they met last year at the local airport.
