The Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested a 41-year-old local man surnamed Choi for slapping his wife who had gambled away almost all of the family savings, a PJ spokesperson said during a special press conference at the PJ headquarters in Zape yesterday.
According to the spokesperson, Choi was arrested on Tuesday night in his flat in Avenida de Artur Tamagnini Barbosa where he lives with his wife and their two daughters aged seven and nine.

The spokesperson said Choi, who is engaged in parallel trading, had hit and shouted at his wife, a croupier, on numerous occasions since he found out in January that she had gambled away about two million patacas – almost all of the family savings.
