Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak said yesterday that the government has dismissed a Judiciary Police (PJ) officer who allegedly – in collaboration with his girlfriend – cheated 320 mainlanders out of 1.5 million yuan.

According to the website of the Secretariat for Security, the PJ officer and his girlfriend were arrested and transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) in December 2015. Prosecutors charged the two suspects in October last year.

Wong said he decided to dismiss the officer after the Judiciary Police proposed he should be fired, after the Public Prosecution Office had formalised its charges against the suspect.
