The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a local man on Wednesday for mugging a woman as she was on her way home in Areia Preta district on Monday, a PJ spokesperson said during a special press conference yesterday.
The spokesperson identified the suspect as a 30-year-old surnamed Tam.According to the spokesperson, when the victim was walking in Rua do Canal Novo in Areia Preta district on her way home shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday, the suspect suddenly snatched her handbag and ran away. The victim reported the case to the police. She told the police she had had a mobile phone worth 1,500 patacas, HK$500 in cash and her ID card in the handbag.
