The Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested a 33-year-old woman from the mainland for reporting an invented crime to the police, PJ spokeswoman Yeung Sau Chan said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Yeung said the woman, surnamed Wang, told the police on Saturday that a man had robbed her of her mobile phone. However, after further investigation, the police found that Wang had lost contact with the man she had accused and invented the case so that the police would track him down, said Yeung.

According to Yeung, Wang met the man online when she came to Macau as a tourist on Monday last week. She told the police that the man agreed to pay her HK$2,000 if she would have sex with him.
