The police yesterday carried out an exercise simulating a breakdown in the border control system at the Barrier Gate border checkpoint, with the aim of testing whether the backup function in its recently upgraded system works properly in the case of a breakdown in its system, the Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement yesterday.
Immigration matters are run by the Public Security Police.
According to the statement, the police upgraded their Barrier Gate border control system last month. The upgraded system now has two sub-systems, the statement said.
