Legislative Assembly Electoral Affairs Committee (CAEAL) President Tong Hio Fong said yesterday that the candidates running in the upcoming legislative elections are not allowed to talk in public about their political platforms before the official campaign period starts next month, adding that, however, they can openly discuss other issues, such as social affairs.
The direct and indirect legislative election will take place on September 17 while the official campaign period runs from September 2-15. No electioneering will be allowed on September 16, the so-called cooling-off day.
Tong made the remarks after a regular meeting of the government-appointed body at the Public Administration Building in Rua do Campo.
