A 27-year-old live-in Filipina domestic helper, surnamed Panganiban, has been arrested for stealing cash and jewellery worth 42,000 patacas from her employer, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The spokesperson said a local woman told the police on Wednesday that a quantity of cash and jewellery in her bedside table was missing. The woman suspected Panganiban, whom she had fired on Sunday, of the theft.
According to the spokesperson, the woman hired Panganiban in June but laid her off by mutual consent because she didn’t like her attitude. After Panganiban moved out on Sunday, the victim found that some of her jewellery and cash, including yen and yuan equivalent to about 42,000 patacas, had vanished.
