The police caught two local women on Wednesday for allegedly cheating 11 locals out of HK$127,580 in a luxury bag scam, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said yesterday.
According to the spokesperson, one of the suspects, surnamed Ip, is unemployed while the other suspect, surnamed Tsui, is a student. Both are 23 years old, the spokesperson said, adding they are friends.
The spokesperson said 11 victims told the police between February and June they had discovered that the bags which they bought from the suspects were fakes.
The spokesperson also said the victims met the duo online.
