The government should require gaming operators in Cotai to jointly run shuttle bus routes that take passengers to and from their resorts to help relieve traffic congestion, former Traffic Consultative Council member Kou Kun Pang said yesterday.
Kou, the Department Head of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Macau (UM), made the remarks during a forum about the city’s traffic problems, held by the Macau Citizens Federation’s Youth Committee at its headquarters in Iao Hon district. About a dozen audience members attended yesterday’s forum.
Kou suggested the government require Macau’s gaming operators to jointly run shuttle bus routes when negotiating new concession agreements with them, because he noticed that traffic congestion has become very serious on Friendship Bridge, especially in the morning. Kou also said sometimes some shuttle buses are almost empty.
