Lawmaker Ho Ion Sang urged the government yesterday to raise its level of transparency and implement an accountability system for senior officials to minimise any damage to Macau like the aftermath of Typhoon Hato.

Ho made the remarks at a press conference yesterday about his 2013-2017 legislative work, at the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations’ community service centre in Toi San district. The union is widely known as Kai Fong, its name in Cantonese.

Ho said the aftermath of Hato brought to the fore all the problems that residents have been facing for many years. He also slammed the government for responding very slowly to the typhoon. “...The government’s way of governing is not in line with the city’s development and transformation,” he said.
