Ho Ion Sang, a vice-president of the Macau General Union of Neighbourhood Associations (Kai Fong), heads the UPP.
While Ching’s group failed to win a seat, Ho’s group’s won one seat.
Speaking to The Macau Post Daily yesterday in a phone interview, Ching said he submitted about 600 candidacy nomination signatures to the Legislative Assembly Electoral Affairs Committee (CAEAL) a few months ago. He said he suspected that some of his supporters might have voted by mistake for the Progress Promotion Union (UPP) as both groups’ logos looked “similar”.
