A current and a former inspector of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (ICAM) have been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) for alleged abuse of power, after illegally benefiting from roadwork projects, the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the CCAC acted upon a tip-off claiming that a number of inspectors working for the bureau’s Public Roads and Sewerage Department were deliberately making things difficult for companies involved in installing underground pipes and soliciting pecuniary advantages from them.
After investigating, the CCAC discovered that the current inspector, surnamed Kou, and the former inspector, surnamed Wong, committed a raft of offences related to roadwork projects, the statement said.
