The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) expects the number of Macau’s visitor arrivals to reach up to 40 million in 2025, according to its master plan for the city’s tourism development revealed yesterday.
40 million visitor arrivals a day would mean a daily average of nearly 110,000. Last year, the daily average of visitor arrivals stood at about 84,800.
In 2000, the first full year after the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) in December 1999, the number of visitor arrivals stood at 9.16 million.
The master plan covers expected developments in the tourism sector for the next 15 years.
