More high school graduates to enrol on mainland: govt

During a post–meeting briefing at the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) yesterday, Kong Chi Meng, head of the Pre–School and Elementary Education Division of the bureau, said that more high school graduates in Macau enrolled in mainland colleges in the 2016/17 academic year.

Kong said the rate of enrolment in local and non-local colleges – including universities – by Macau high school graduates increased from 84.4 percent in the 2007/08 academic year to 95.6 percent in the 2016/17 academic year.

Regarding their destinations, in the 2016/17 academic year, 47.7 percent of local high school graduates enrolled in local tertiary education institutions, 23.6 percent on the mainland, 18.2 percent in Taiwan, 0.9 percent in Hong Kong and 9.4 percent elsewhere, according to Kong.
