Two men from the mainland were arrested for allegedly attacking a drunken man with broken glass bottles, who had supposedly put his arm around the waist of one of their female friends at a nightclub in Cotai on Saturday, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said yesterday morning during a special press conference at the PJ headquarters in Zape.

According to Ho, the victim is a 27-year-old man from the mainland surnamed Zhou. Ho said that on Saturday evening Zhou went to the nightclub with three friends and they entered a room where there were five men and five women. One of the members of Zhou’s group knew one of the five woman while Zhou didn’t know anyone in the room, according to Ho, who did not reveal the name of the nightclub.

Zhou became drunk and put his arm around the waist of one of the women he had just met. When he was embracing the woman in the room, the five men began hitting him with glass bottles. During the melee Zhou had a broken bottle slammed into his midriff.
