The public Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) hosted at the weekend two English speech competitions “to promote the use of English in Macau in the era of globalisation, to encourage people from all walks of life to learn English, and to promote English language teaching,” the tertiary education institution said in a statement yesterday.
The event consisted of the 16th Macau-wide English Speech Contest and the Macau Regional Contest of the 23rd “21st Century” National English Speaking Competition.
The contests were held on the IPM campus in Zape.
Participants in the two English speech contests and guests of honour including Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) President Lei Heong Iok (centre, first row) pose in this photo released by the tertiary education institution yesterday through the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS). An IPM statement on the two competitions did not say when and where the photo was taken, neither did it identify any of the persons appearing in the photo.
