Drivers and riders were already doing practice laps for the 64th Macau Grand Prix yesterday. This year, the city’s Grand Prix has become the only motorsport event in the world to host two World Cups of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) – the FIA F3 World Cup and FIA GT World Cup.

Apart from those two, this year is also bringing back the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) after a two-year absence. The race around Guia Hill will be the penultimate race in the WTCC’s schedule this year.

British driver Tom Chilton ranked third with his best lap – 2:28.7 at yesterday’s WTCC Free Practice 1 in a Citroën C-Elysée WTCC. After the practice, he said he felt really happy to have the result as he thought that the Guia Circuit was one of the most difficult tracks in the world. The 32-year-old driver expressed the view that since many Formula 1 drivers started their F1 careers by winning in Macau, it made many drivers also want to be victorious here.
