More than 600 roadworks to start next year: official

More than 600 roadworks will be carried out next year, the Transport Bureau (DSAT) announced yesterday during a press conference at the bureau.

Addressing the press conference about next year’s roadwork projects, Lo Seng Chi, who heads the bureau’s Traffic Management Department, said that the government’s interdepartmental Road Projects Coordination Group, which was established in 2009, has received 617 applications for roadwork permits from government entities and public utilities to be carried out next year, a 13.2 percent decrease compared to 711 applications for roadwork permits to be carried out this year.

Lo said that 42 roadworks out of the 617 will be carried out on the city’s thoroughfares.
