Guest speakers and members of the audience at yesterday’s Macau Forum agreed with the government’s proposed mandatory implementation of real-name registration for the provision of telecom services, including the purchase of pre-paid SIM cards.
The weekly open-air debate is hosted by government-owned broadcaster TDM in Areia Preta Park every Sunday.
The government launched a 45-day public consultation last month on a bill on cyber security which proposes the mandatory implementation of real-name registration for the provision of telecom services – i.e. customers will be required to provide their real identification data to telecom service companies, including for the purchase of a pre-paid SIM card.
