A senior manager of Macau’s power utility said yesterday the company would build flood barriers at substations in low-lying areas.
CEM Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communication Office Senior Manager Cecilia Nip Lai Peng made the remarks when she was asked by a reporter about the precautions being taken to prevent future blackouts, on the sidelines of the one-day CEM Energy Fun Fair in Praça do Tap Seac.
Nip said that since last year’s catastrophic typhoon, CEM had been working on prevention measures for natural disasters.
