Seven Taiwanese tourists were injured in an accident on an escalator at Studio City in Cotai yesterday, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) said.
The accident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on an escalator going up when one of the injured suddenly lost his or her balance and fell backwards, which caused other visitors to fall. The domino effect finally resulted in seven injuries, staff members of the resort told the media at the scene.
An employee hit the emergency stop button immediately the accident occurred. The resort has suspended the operation of the escalator for technicians to carry out checks on it, and has informed the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) of the accident, staff members said.
