Several members of the Urban Planning Council (CPU) yesterday criticised the government for proposing the development plans for plots on the land reclamation area known as Zone A without the existence of an official blueprint for a city master plan.

Yesterday’s regular meeting of the council, held at the Transport Bureau (DSAT) building, included discussions on the proposed legal development conditions for seven plots to be used for public housing projects as well as a plot earmarked for public facilities on Zone A.

Currently, the city has six new land reclamation zones officially known as A, B, C, D, E1 and E2. The reclamation of Zone A, which lies off the north-eastern coast of the peninsula, has been basically completed. Zone A covers an area of 1.38 square kilometres.
