Fate of old house leaves councillors bewildered

Members of the Urban Planning Council (CPU) yesterday expressed bewilderment at  the government’s frequently changing approach towards the fate of a dilapidated old house at the junction of Rua da Barca and Rua de Manuel de Arriaga.

Yesterday’s regular meeting of the council, which took place on the premises of the Transport Bureau (DSAT), included a discussion of the proposed legal development conditions for the plot that is near Lou Lim Ieoc Garden.

In late 2015, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) initiated cultural heritage evaluation procedures for 10 old buildings as “the first batch” since the Cultural Heritage Protection Law came into force in 2014. The old house in Rua da Barca was among the 10 properties.
