Initial test results of the air quality around the Macau Anglican College (MAC) in Taipa show that the air in the area is “up to standard with no abnormalities”, a statement from the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) said yesterday, after receiving complaints about the removal of asbestos roof sheeting from a building nearby.

Due to the concern, the private school has suspended classes for two days since yesterday.

The bureau said in the statement that it commissioned a specialist entity to assess if the air in the area where the school is located contained asbestos and “initial results show the air quality is up to standard, without abnormalities”.
