Transport Bureau (DSAT) Director Kelvin Lam Hin San said yesterday the government was contemplating whether to suspend the use of the bus stop east of the Barrier Gate Plaza during the Chinese New Year period, considering the huge number of mainland tourists who typically use casino shuttle buses.
Lam spoke to reporters after a regular meeting of the government-appointed Traffic Consultative Council at his bureau.
A report from local bus enthusiasts’ Facebook page “Macau Buses and Public Transport Enthusiasts” on Sunday said the Transport Bureau had reportedly informed public bus operators Transmac and New Era to suspend the use of the bus stop east of the Barrier Gate Plaza from the first to the 10th day of the Chinese New Year (Friday to February 25), so that it can be used by casino shuttle buses, in response to the expected large number of mainland tourists using casino shuttle buses during the period.
