A man from the mainland was arrested last Thursday for embezzling his father’s money, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Ho noted that the suspect is a 29-year-old driver surnamed Li while the victim is his father, both from Shanghai.

According to Ho, on the evening of September 16 last year, the two were visiting Macau and went to a casino in Nape. Before entering the casino to gamble, the victim left his bag with HK$80,000 cash in it with his son and then went to gamble alone. After returning to his hotel room, the victim couldn’t find his son and suspected that he took the money. He later called the police.
