With circus artists performing along with the projections of giant moving images of paintings by Dutch artist Hieronymus Bosch (1450 – 1516), the surreal and fantastical world of Bosch magically comes to life in “Bosch Dreams”, allowing the audience to delve into the life of the painter, and be enlightened.

“Bosch Dreams”, to be presented on Sunday at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM), is a joint production by two avant-garde companies: the Copenhagen-based Theatre Republique known for pushing the boundaries of conventional theatre, and the Canadian acrobatic group The 7 Fingers, founded by former Cirque du Soleil artists.

The contemporary circus and multimedia tribute show is an interpretation of Bosch’s paintings, most of which takes biblical themes, and among them the famous triptych “The Garden of Earthly Delights”, depicting heaven and hell with people doing strange things and fantastical creatures, which has been on display at Madrid’s Prado Museum since 1939.
