A local man on bail was caught for allegedly scamming dozens of job seekers by claiming to be able to get them jobs, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai said during a regular press conference at the PJ headquarters in Zape yesterday.

Choi identified the suspect as a 63-year-old man surnamed Kwong, who worked at a car park.

According to Choi, the police recently received reports by several people about two separate cases involving a total of 56 victims claiming to have been defrauded by Kwong. An investigation showed that Kwong told his victims that he could provide jobs such as for construction workers and doormen in Macau to mainland job seekers, claiming that each position paid a salary of over 10,000 patacas a month.
