The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) proposes to raise school subsidies by nine percent in the next academic year, Chiang Ka U, acting chief for the bureau’s Division of Socio-Educational Aids, said yesterday.

Chiang made the remarks during a press conference after a closed-door regular meeting of the Non-tertiary Education Committee at the bureau.

Referring to the free education subsidy, Chiang said that the bureau proposed to raise it to between 954,000 patacas and 1,463,400 patacas per class, an increase of about four percent, for the academic year of 2018/19.
