Originally a small fishing village, the town of Labuan Bajo has become internationally known as the launching point to the world-famous Komodo National Park, but the so-called “new Bali” and the remaining areas of West Manggarai Regency are still rather underdeveloped, and the regent is urging foreign investors – including from Macau – to help with the development.
“Of course we want to have investors from Macau too,” West Manggarai’s regent Agustinus Christoforus Dula told The Macau Post Daily after giving a group interview to Macau and Hong Kong reporters at the seat of the regency in Labuan Bajo last Friday before the group flew back to Hong Kong via Bali.
“We are open for anyone to come and invest in West Manggarai. People from Macau if they are interested to come and invest, they are very welcome. We [the regency government] will host them. We have hosted [potential investors] many times,” Dula told The Macau Post Daily.
