The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested three suspects from the mainland and Vietnam earlier this week for operating fake base stations for about six months, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a special press conference yesterday.
According to Ho, in addition to operating fake base stations in five residential units, the gang members also ran a “mobile” fake base station that was inside a suitcase.
Ho identified the trio as a 26-year-old Vietnamese woman surnamed Tran, a 49-year-old man surnamed Xia from the mainland and a 53-year-old woman surnamed Kang from the mainland. Tran is a non-resident worker while Xia is an illegal immigrant.
