The government is launching a two-month public consultation today on two bills regulating the operation of the city’s wet markets and the operation of vendors’ stalls respectively.

The two bills propose that residents who want to run a stall will need to bid for a licence, as opposed to the current practice where available stalls are simply allocated through a lucky draw.

While some vendors run their stalls in the streets, others run their stalls in municipal markets.
