Executive Council spokesman Leong Heng Teng said yesterday that the government has drafted a bill on a vehicle tax rebate scheme for vehicle owners affected by Super Typhoon Hato last year.
The tax rebate scheme will benefit vehicle owners affected by the disaster if they buy a new one to replace a vehicle damaged by the typhoon, such as by flooding or falling objects, according to Leong.
The bill proposes that the affected vehicle owners will need to make the purchase of the new vehicle within two years of the law taking effect, for them to benefit from the tax rebate, according to Leong.
