The Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement yesterday that 47 trishaws used for commercial purposes have recently passed their annual vehicle tests.

Trishaws – also known as pedicabs – were once a popular means of transportation in Macau. They are nowadays mostly hired by tourists for short rides.

The statement did not say how many trishaws used for business purposes are registered in Macau.

This undated handout photo released by the Transport Bureau (DSAT) yesterday shows a staff member of the bureau checking a trishaw at an unknown location.
