The government is proposing that the two members from the future municipal organisation on the Chief Executive Election Committee will be elected among the municipal body’s administrative committee and consultative committee, lawmaker Andrew Chan Chak Mo, who heads the legislature’s 2nd Standing Committee, said yesterday.
Chan briefed the media after a closed-door meeting of his committee which is reviewing a government-initiated bill on the establishment of a non-political municipal organisation in Macau, the outline of which was passed during a plenary session early this month.
Yesterday’s meeting was the first meeting to review the bill, attended by government officials including Secretary for Administration and Justice Sonia Chan Hoi Fan and Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) President Jose Fonseca Tavares.
