The Macau Federation of Trade Unions yesterday urged the government to finish drafting a bill amending the city’s health and safety rules for the construction sector as soon as possible, with the aim of improving the safety of the sector which suffered several fatal accidents last year.
The federation, the city’s number-one trade union, is commonly known as Gung Luen, its name in Cantonese.
The federation made the appeal during a press conference at its headquarters in Rua da Ribeira do Patane. Three board members co-hosted the press conference to sum up the union’s work last year related to labour, housing and other social issues.
