Credit cards rise 12 pct to 1.2 million in March

The number of personal credit cards issued by banks in Macau stood at 1.2 million at the end of March, a year-on-year growth of 12.1 percent, the Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) announced yesterday.

According to the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC), Macau’s population stood at 653,100 at the end of last year.

According to an AMCM statement, pataca credit cards rose 12 percent to 860,764, Hong Kong dollar credit cards increased 4.6 percent to 89,029 and yuan credit cards grew 15 percent to 266,755.
