The Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement that they are investigating a suspected arson case in a residential unit in Fai Chi Kei yesterday morning.
According to the statement, several residents in a high-rise in Rua da Bacia Sul saw a man, who appeared to be drunk, lying on the floor of a smoke-filled corridor outside a flat at 7:30 a.m. and called the Fire Services Bureau (CB).
Firefighters rushed to the scene where the man told them that his family members were in the flat where the smoke was coming from, the statement said, adding that the firemen then broke into the flat, but no one was inside.
