Executive Council spokesman Leong Heng Teng said yesterday that the government will extend its annual scheme for tuition fee allowances for local pupils studying in Guangdong to all 21 cities in the province starting from the academic year 2017/18.
The 21 cities comprise 19 prefecture-level cities and two sub-provincial cities – its provincial capital Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Addressing a press conference at Government Headquarters, Leong said that the council, the government’s top advisory body, has completed its discussion of a by-law on tuition fee allowances for local pupils studying in schools in Guangdong for the academic year 2017/18.
