A 21-year-old local woman committed suicide in a flat in Area Preta on Saturday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement on the same day.
According to the statement, the deceased, surnamed Wong, lived in the flat with her father. On Saturday afternoon, when Wong’s father returned home from the mainland, he saw an open bag of charcoal in the living room. He later tried to enter his daughter’s room and found that the door was locked. Banging the door to no avail, he got the spare key and opened the door to discover that his daughter had burnt charcoal in the room.
Fire Services Bureau (CB) paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed Wong was dead, according to the statement. No suspicious injuries were found on the body, but a suicide note was found in the room.
The statement added that the exact cause of Wong’s death has yet to be confirmed by an official autopsy.
