A woman from the mainland was arrested at the Barrier Gate checkpoint on Sunday for stealing HK$110,000 from a man in a hotel in April, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said in a special press conference yesterday at the PJ headquarters in Zape.
According to the spokesperson, the suspect is a 35-year-old woman surnamed He, who claimed to be unemployed, and the victim is a 52-year-old construction worker from Hong Kong surnamed Chan.
The spokesperson said that Chan came to the city on the morning of April 9, and stayed in a casino-hotel in the city centre. At noon he went to a casino, and met He there. Later the two gambled together until evening.
