Thousands of residents took part in a protest organised by the grassroots Macau Community Development Initiative (MCDI) on Saturday against the government’s perceived failure to provide residents with sufficient numbers of parking spaces.
The demonstrators also expressed their discontent with apparently tougher law enforcement to fine those illegally parking their vehicles, considering that the city’s parking spaces for cars and motorcycles are utterly insufficient to meet public demand.
A senior police officer told the media after the demonstration that about 2,500 people had participated in the protest.
