A domestic helper has been arrested for causing physical harm to a 14-month-old baby boy in a flat in Areia Preta last week, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Leng identified the suspect as a 27-year-old woman from Myanmar.
According to Leng, the suspect was hired to work in the toddler’s home in Avenida Nordeste in April to take care of him as well as the his twin sister. Last Wednesday morning, the victim’s mother watching live feed from a home CCTV camera, saw the suspect apparently slapping the boy. She then called the police for help. Later, as the victim’s mother was reviewing the CCTV footage at home, she saw the suspect apparently hitting her son on the head a few of times while she was trying to get him to sleep.
